Programme of the LLL HUB Forum
Day One will focus on a Lifelong Learning Research & Policy review, with each of the Research Networks presenting on key policy priorities in their field of enquiry. This will include drawing on existing research evidence and policy proposals emerging from the work of each RN during the past five years. It will also identify key international policy contexts for informing current and future directions within their fields. It will contextualise discussion around enhancing cooperation and common goal-setting between Asia and Europe, addressing key global challenges like Climate Change, Sustainable Development Goals, Migration and emerging social and economic challenges.
It will also, where possible, make links to significant international reports/policies like those emerging from the International Labour Organisation (The Future of Work); UNESCO; OECD, etc.
In plenary the meeting will propose a Draft ASEM LLL Hub Five Year Plan. This will include a set of overall ASEM LLL Hub priorities for 2020-2025, with each Research Network proposing a programme of activity for 2020 and an outline road map for activity in the period 2021-2025. This plan will shape the agenda for Day Two. Day One shall also include a Showcase on Lifelong Learning in Irish Higher Education.
Day Two The Draft ASEM LLL Hub Five Year Plan will be presented in Plenary to all delegates including member of both the Intergovernmental Senior Officials Forum and the Asia-Europe Council of Senior University Managers Forum. This will be followed by parallel meetings of the Intergovernmental Senior Officials Forum and the Asia-Europe Council of Senior University Managers Forum, for detailed discussions on the Draft ASEM LLL Hub Five Year Plan.
Day Two business will conclude with the re-convening of the Full Plenary for the adoption of the ASEM LLL Hub Five Year Plan and pledges of support for the implementation of the plan.
Day Two shall also include a Showcase on Irish Higher Education engagement in developing Asia-Europe research, education and learning collaborations.
Cork UNESCO Learning City
The programme will include engagement with Cork UNESCO Learning City, including visits to Leaning Neighbourhoods, introduction to the Lifelong Learning Festival, industry engagement and inter-agency and community partnerships.Additional field trips to other learning initiatives in the region may be planned.
